Adventures in Books… City of Lost Souls

“What price is too high to pay, even for love? When Jace and Clary meet again, Clary is horrified to discover that the demon Lilith’s magic has bound her beloved Jace together with her evil brother Sebastian, and that Jace has become a servant of evil. The Clave is out to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other. As Alec, Magnus, Simon, and Isabelle wheedle and bargain with Seelies, demons, and the merciless Iron Sisters to try to save Jace, Clary plays a dangerous game of her own. The price of losing is not just her own life, but Jace’s soul. She’s willing to do anything for Jace, but can she still trust him? Or is he truly lost?”

I have really gotten into this series. I love a good young adult series to get stuck into and become enthralled by the characters. I find that sometimes (or a lot of the time) I need to revisit the same characters as you don’t have to spend a lot of time getting to know them and working out whether you like them or not. In this case I like the characters, even if some are a bit annoying along the way.

This book is the fifth in the series focusing on the characters of Clary, Jace and Simon. It takes us on a journey trying to figure out if Jace has turned to the bad side for real or if it’s a possession by his evil brother. Also we are trying to figure out if the evil brother is really evil anymore. I apologise for any grammatical errors in this post as I’m writing with a head cold and my brain is all fuzzy.

I really enjoying actually reading this book as all the others I’ve listen to in audiobook format, but I got this as a bargain find when I went away for the weekend and forgot to charge my kindle. I hadn’t realised how much I missed reading until I was able to have all the voices in my for all the different characters.

This isn’t a hard story to follow or book to read. It was fun and engaging throughout and I didn’t guess what was going to happen, which I like in books. I hoped for a certain outcome, but I wasn’t sure it was going to happen.

I am looking forward to treating myself to a new book every month that I can start reading right away. I have a few on my list already and a few I need to read that’s I’ve had in my pile for a while, but there is nothing better than sitting down with characters you already know and continue on with a story. It’s perfect for this time of year for me to curl up with a good story and to keep warm in winter.
