This week was book club and we (well half of us) had read Labyrinth by Kate Mosse – My Choice 🙂
I read this book firstly at the time it was realised and really enjoyed it, so I chose it to read as part of book club as I hoped other people would enjoy it too.
The book is split between 2 main characters and 2 different times – about 800 years apart. The historic time is set during the crusades across Europe and the modern part is set in own time. The stories take place in the same area of France.
I really enjoyed the historical aspect of the story. I also enjoyed the modern thriller part of the story. However the modern part did take some coincidences a little too far for my likely to make characters link together.
It was a longer book than I thought, but once I got into it I couldn’t put it down each time. I think it is a little long for book clubs, but those who had read it or had started reading it, liked it. One friend thought it was very violent, but I think I must have skimmed those parts more than she did as I didn’t pick up on that so much. I liked the mystery and history involved in the book.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and am glad to have it on my book shelf for a future re-read 🙂
