Last months book club book was Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. There were definitely mixed reactions from the group.
I loved it. I let go of the original (which I love) and read it as a new story as much as I could. I did laugh at certian parts when they were changed for zombies to fit it.
Others in the group didn’t like it. The main though was that it could have been a lot better. Instead of just sticking zombies in in places, it could have been written from new and been a bit more seamless.
It was just nice to read something funny and that I didn’t need to take too seriously. Especially with all the the non-fiction I have been reading recently. I read it fairly quickly as it was not a complicated book, especially if you have read the original and are used to the old fashioned English language used.
I definitely think it could have been better written, but that won’t stop me reading the sequel and the prequel. Also I intend to read other books that are similar, like Abrham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
Overall I enjoyed this book 🙂
This month we are reading Labyrinth by Kate Mosse – one of mine that I read a good few years ago!
