My first day in Vancouver has been great, but now I’m hitting a wall and am now starting my evening in of relaxing and reading.
The day started with meeting everyone from the plane for the free hostel breakfast then heading to the work abroad orientation. They took through all the essentials for the working holiday programme. It’s made me think I won’t spend too much time looking for work as I really just want to enjoy myself and my time here.
I then went for lunch at my favourite Japanese restaurant when I used to study here – Shuraku on Granville Street.
I then wandered around Downtown all afternoon. I wandered along the shops on Robson Street and then into a Starbucks for a coffee and a rest. I ended up reading my book for half an hour. It was great to be able to do exactly what I wanted when I wanted. I then wandered down to the waterfront and took in the view of Stanley Park.
I then wandered down to Gastown and look at the Steam clock.
Also the took in a couple of the fun tourist shops 🙂
I then went back to the hostel for a bit then back out to find something to eat. I ended up in Tim Hortons – my favourite fast food type place 🙂
I have decided to change hostels in a couple of days. I am currently in the Samesun, but it very much party central and noisy, both of which are not me at all. Its Granville Street, which i love, but no so much at night when all the clubs and bars open. So I am moving to one in the quieter West End.
