This time last year I was up in Edinburgh for New Year. It was fantastic and amazing! I would recommend to everyone to go there once for new year. Also go with a great group of people!
We started the trip with a very early flight to make the most of our 4 days. The first day was spent finding our apartment. It was located right by the Royal Mile, which was fantastic for getting everywhere and also for meaning we didn’t get lost everyday 🙂
On the first night of Hogmanay we took part in the torchlight procession.
It was so much fun, but also scary at times.moots of people holding very big sticks of fire at different heights! We walked all through Edinburgh and worked our way to a firework display.
There was also a bonfire where they set fire to a Viking ship.
The next day was New Years Eve. We went to Edinburgh Castle and played tourist with the audio guides.
We then got ready for the Concert in the Park for the New Celebrations. Plenty of mulled wine and friends. Then Biffy Clyro for the entertainment.
The next day was lazy day of wandering around Edinburgh and watching people take part in the New Years day run.
Our final full day in Edinburgh a group of us decided to climb up to Arthur’s Seat.
On the last night we headed to the annual rugby match. It was fun and very different as I don’t watch sports!
I had a fantastic time and I think everyone else did too! I would love to go back and do it again as there was so much to do and keep us entertained all the time. Edinburgh is a beautiful city and being on the Royal Mile is amazing anytime of the year.
This year we are not even trying to compete with our adventures from last year so we are doing the complete opposite and staying in and watching DVDs and ordering pizza!
