I love to travel.
I have known this for a long time. I love exploring new places. I love committing places to memory and being able to smile when something reminds me of them. I love the freedom of being somewhere new and finding my way around.
Travel is an adventure. No matter how long or short the trip.
I’ve been so focused on my work and my trip to Canada I had forgotten where else I want to go. So I thought about a travel wish list.
- Las Vegas Road-trip – with Sian for 30th Birthdays 2014/15
- New York
- Northern Lights (Norway?)
This is not an extensive list, but these are the places that have been at the top of the list in my head for a long time.
I like the planning side of travelling as well. Finding out where I want to go, how much things cost, how long to go for, etc.
I’ve spent the last year, well over a year, planning for Canada and I’m the most excited I’ve been now that I’ve adjusted my plan. I know this could be because it’s finally near, but it is also about the adventure it’s become. It is no longer a trip about re-visiting a place. It is a trip that is exploring new places as well as re-exploring a much loved place. The emphasis has changed to focus on the new, rather than the old.
I’ve realised that this is what I want to do. I have a job I spent my academic career working towards. There are the not so good areas, but it does give me the ability to save for trips and take the time off for them.
Basically I want to work to live. Not live to work.
I want to travel the world!
